About UsGrace Evangelical Free Church (EFC) exists to glorify God by making disciples as our Lord Jesus Christ commanded us. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you” (Matt. 28:18-20). Jesus intended that this command would be carried as He built His church. It is through local congregations that the gospel and resources of the living Christ are released to the world. (Eph. 3:10).
Grace EFC is one of about 1250 churches nations wide that make up the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). Founded in the late 1800’s by Scandinavian immigrants, today the EFCA has over 200 urban or ethnic congregations within the movement. As a denomination, the EFCA seeks to be inclusive toward all who have come to a saving knowledge of the faith in Christ. It is evangelical expressing our commitment to the authority and inerrancy of Scripture as well as our emphasis on the gospel message. The term free arises from its heritage as a reform movement free of the state church (in Europe). It also refers to our congregational form of government. Each congregation is autonomous and free to make its own decisions. The denomination exists as an alliance for the purpose of mutual accountability and cooperation in mission. This particular congregation was founded in the late 1980’s as a bible study group. Sunday services began in 1986. In 1991 the church was formally incorporated and moved into the present facility in 1992. Mark Kiekhaefer became the senior pastor in September of 1998. In October of 1999 Scott Reitz joined the staff serving as Youth Pastor. At Grace EFC you will notice a joyful style of worship with central emphasis placed on the preaching and teaching of God’s Word. Education for children and youth is a priority as well as adult discipleship through a network of small group bible studies. We are seeking to impact our community for the glory of God and touch the ends of the earth through our church supported missionaries. |
